چکیده

Background Similar to speckle tracking echocardiography cardiac MR (CMR) feature tracking imaging (FTI) uses a 2-dimensional deforming analysis of the myocardium which allows quantitative evaluation of myocardial motion and contractility. This technique might provide important additional information in children, including those with congenital heart disease (CHD). Until now, there are no reference data from a healthy pediatric population. The availability of this type of data is a requirement for proper interpretation in pediatric heart disease. The aim of this study was to determine normal values of left ventricular (LV) longitudinal, circumferential and radial strain and strain rate in healthy children, using FTI in cardiovascular MR images.

Doppler-Derived Myocardial Performance Index in Healthy Children in Shiraz

Background: Assessment of myocardial function is essential in heart disease, but in regard to systolic and diastolic functions such evaluation has limitation. Ejection fraction is difficult to assess in abnormally-shaped ventricles, and diastolic inflow velocity pattern may be fused because of tachycardia. Objective: A myocardial performance index (MPI) or Tei index has been developed for adult...

Comparison of Cardiac Function in Young Patients with Thalassemia Intermedia and Healthy Individuals Using Echocardiography Method

Background: Cardiac dysfunction due to chronic anemia and hemosiderosis are the major causes of death among patients with thalassemia intermedia. This study was performed to compare the cardiac function in thalassemia intermedia patients with normal subjects by means of echocardiography. Materials and Methods: This was a case-control study performed on 22 patients affected by thalassemia int...

Evaluation of strain and strain rate parameters using two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography in patients with coronary artery disease (Research Article)

The study aimed was to measure left ventricular (LV) strain using speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) for assessment of LV function. Eighty-two subjects (mean age 57±9 years) with suspected chest pain underwent two-dimensional (2D)-echocardiography before coronary angiography. Conventional echocardiographic parameters were used for the assessment of LV function. Longitudinal strain and its ...

Echocardiographic Evaluation of left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation

Extended abstract Echocardiographic Evaluation of Left Ventricular Function and Geometry in Pediatric Patients with Kidney Transplantation Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is an important, leading cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) as well as in renal transplant recipients. Cardiovascular complications become more important in children because of the i...

Detection of left ventricular regional dysfunction and myocardial abnormalities using complementary cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in patients with systemic sclerosis without cardiac symptoms

Methods Consecutive patients with SSc without cardiac symptoms and healthy controls underwent CMR. Peak systolic regional circumferential and radial strain (Ecc and Err, %) were calculated using a feature tracking analysis on mid-left ventricular slices obtained with cine MRI in six segments. Furthermore, perfusion defect (PD) under pharmacological stress and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) w...
